Every so often a booking comes along that is just pure fun. In this case, it was for the Museum of Illusions new location in Boston. Like most actors, on any given week, I submit to a variety of projects. Aside from what they are looking for in their listing, I honestly don’t spend that much time researching the client or agency. It’s only when the booking comes through that the research begins. When I was booked as a model for the museum’s new location in Boston, I started to research the company and was, for the first time in a while, excited to work on a commercial project.

To quote from the museum’s website, “Enter the fascinating world of illusions where nothing is ever quite as it seems…and experience the unbelievable!” That one sentence sums up the museum perfectly. From dynamic illusion rooms to exhibits that illicit the imagination to images that make us think, “How did they do that?” Visitors of all ages will enjoy an immersive experience like none other.  Be sure to bring your smartphone, because the images you capture will be smarter than what you see live.

I don’t think I’ve ever worked on a set where the actors and models were told to simply have fun and to lose ourselves in the exhibits. I’ve included some sample pictures a fellow actor took of me. The museum booked about a dozen of us for their latest national campaign. To learn more about the Museum of Illusions in Boston please visit their website. If you’re not in the Boston market, they have 40+ locations around the world. When you visit, get ready to be illusioned!

On the reality front, I’m pleased to announce that the First Launch screenplay, the sequel to First Signal, has advanced from Official Selection to Nominee Best Script at the Asian Film Festival in Los Angeles. It’s indeed an honor for a project to be officially selected but to be nominated for a best script win makes the work even more meaningful.  First Launch has four more festivals in December that may select the script. While it would be grand to be included in those festivals, I have been more than pleased at First Launch’s 2024 film festival run.

SOS United States – Pitch Deck

As for other projects, with SOS United States broken down at the script stage for budgeting, and with the manuscript complete and waiting for publication, I started the process of creating a film pitch deck for investor presentations.  For those who are wondering what a pitch deck is, it’s like a visual business plan for a film that showcases the look and feel of a project with images and video, while including enough copy to provide investors and partners with a request for additional information.

Finally, I received notice that The Ashton Times has been approved for a media accreditation for a major event in the next few months. Details are to be announced soon.

First Launch continues its 2024 film festival run.
